Manage an existing Google Slides presentation

Understand which existing decks are managed and how to start managing content from an unrelated deck.

A managed presentation is a Google Slides deck linked to a source Google Doc through SlideAdmin. Opening an existing Slides file or importing its content does not by itself make that file a managed presentation.

Continue with an already managed deck

  1. Open the original source Google Doc in SlideAdmin.
  2. Select the presentation and check its Google Slides link.
  3. Refresh the previews.
  4. Sync the intended slide or presentation to update that existing managed output.

SlideAdmin uses the saved source-to-output mapping rather than matching arbitrary slide titles.

Start from an unrelated Google Slides file

The current editor does not provide a destination picker for attaching an arbitrary existing deck as managed output. Do not use Content → Import expecting it to create that connection.

Instead:

  1. Import the deck’s supported content into a Google Doc.
  2. Review the imported structure and slide previews.
  3. Choose a theme and adjust the appearance.
  4. Generate a new managed Google Slides presentation from that source.

Keep the original deck for comparison and any content or design elements you need to preserve.

If tracking information is missing

Check that you opened the original source Doc with the right account and workspace. Removing document records or unlinking a presentation can remove its saved mapping. If you need to recover a connection, contact support before generating replacement output.
